CCCP Badygin Black Silver SS
Konstantin Sergeyevich Badygin (1910-1984) was a Soviet Naval officer, explorer author and scientist. He is best remembered and honoured for his Captaining of the Icebreak Sedov, which was stuck near the North Pole for an extraordinary 812 days before being rescued. During that time however, the crews, scientists, and sailors on board performed measurements, observations and reading that greatly enhanced our understanding of the Polar caps. After his return Badygin was awarded the Order of the Red Star and became a hero of the Soviet Union.
